Technical English for Interviews and Client Work

Track #5 of the study plan. Fluent technical communication in English — the point about “frequent technical discussions in English with the client”.

Goal

It’s not perfect grammar — it’s explaining architecture, trade-offs and decisions clearly and confidently, and leading technical discussions.

Practice areas

• Think out loud: narrate your reasoning while solving a problem.
• STAR for behavioral questions (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
• Explain trade-offs: “We chose X over Y because…”, “The downside is…”.
• Clarifying questions: “Just to confirm, do you mean…?”, “What are the constraints around…?”.
• Disagree politely: “I see your point, however…”, “An alternative would be…”.
• Buy time: “Let me think through this for a second.”

System design / fullstack vocabulary

• scalability, throughput, latency, bottleneck, trade-off, eventual consistency, idempotency, backpressure, race condition, cache invalidation, observability.

Suggested routine

• Explain each note in this garden out loud in English.
• Mock interviews (Pramp / interviewing.io / with peers).
• Record yourself answering questions and review.
• Shadowing tech talks (repeat along for rhythm/pronunciation).
• Daily standup in English (even alone, simulate it).

• “To summarize, the key trade-off here is…”
